The Blue Mountains is a huge area with a massive National Park featuring many walking tracks. If you are travelling by car you will reach the edge of it after about 60 minutes of travel along the Great Western Highway. Katoomba is the main regional centre of the area with many shops restaurants and adventure companies offering tours of all kinds. There is an excellent hop on hop off bus service adjacent to the Katoomba railway station that will take you around approximately 24 local attractions ranging from parks and gardens to historic homes and museums. Katoomba and Leura are joined together. The centre of each town is only about 4 km apart. There is a major tourist office located at Echo Point, Katoomba where you may also view the famous Three Sisters after you have collected all the information on the local sights. All properties offered by Blue Mountains Getaways are warm and cozy with plenty of heating. Even in the summertime you will find this area much cooler than Sydney. We suggest you bring warm clothes if you intend to explore the area on foot just in case.
